The Immortal Message of Easter

On Easter morn, we are drawn back to the message of the Cross that all-encompassing will of God. We are catapulted beyond the simple historical message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to the infinite heights of God’s will for our life in Christ Jesus. If we only see the historical event steeped in tradition then we have missed the message. In the Apostle Paul’s farewell message to the Ephesian elders he declared, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). And the starting place in this wonderful journey in understanding the whole will of God is by following the admonition of Christ to pick up our cross and follow Him. The Bible says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). To pick up the cross means death. It simply cannot mean anything else. It is a conscious decision to follow Christ in His death by dying to self. As we enter the dark night of our soul we discover that everything of the old sin nature must die. Every vestige of pride must be nailed to the cross. Every glimmer of self-will must die with Christ. Through faith in Christ our death to self becomes a reality. Step by step we are able to put off the old life.

The good news is we are no longer held in bondage to the old life. Old sins are forgiven by the precious blood of the Lamb. As Christ hung on the Cross of Calvary all our sins, past, present and future have been laid on Him removing that eternal barrier between us and a holy God. “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). Through faith in Christ all our sins are forgiven and its power broken. Satan was soundly defeated at the Cross and no longer has power over those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Only by following Christ in His death on the Cross can this power of sin and the devil be broken forever in the life of the believer. Don’t let another Easter pass you by without making a conscious decision to pick up your cross daily and follow Him. Don’t fear death to self, because on the other side there is real life in Christ. Dying to self and putting off the old life is only the first part of the journey. We must continue to understand the full will of God.

Christians from around the world will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, because without it we are still trapped in our sin, in bondage to the old life, and resting under the power of Satan. On that glorious Easter morn as the rock was rolled back and Christ rose from the dead a new and living way was opened to all those who would now put their faith in Him. How magnificent is this new life in Christ is beyond our finite comprehension? For those who have journeyed deep into the new life in Christ will confirm that every day becomes more glorious. Unfortunately, many have not journeyed much further than the door and have rested contently on the milk of God’s Word. As mere infants, they delight in retelling the same old stories over and over again believing somehow that they alone will bring forth spiritual fruit and a deeper life in Christ. They pass over the commands of God as mere suggestions or only relevant for some future dispensation. They pass over the gifts of the Spirit as if they only appeared in the first century. Tragically many Christians never really experience the new life in Christ thus celebrating the resurrection as mere tradition reenacting its historical event.

He is risen! Christ has risen from the dead! In faith, we follow Christ in His resurrection putting off the old life by dying to self and putting on the new life by becoming obedient to His commands. Let’s be clear commands are not works. We have been saved by faith and all our good works will not get us one inch closer to heaven or a deeper life in Christ. On the other hand, the commands of God teach us how to live this new life in Him. Through our faith in Christ we have already been made into a new creation. The old has gone, behold all things are new. The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). When we put off the old life then we are empty and ready for the Master’s use. Self and tradition cannot put on the new life, but only Christ through His wonderful commands demonstrating the will of God in us. Do you want to grow spiritually from one degree of glory to another? Do you want that deeper life in Christ? Then be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and allow Him to lead you step by step to become obedient to the whole counsel of God through His holy commands written on your heart. As you celebrate the resurrection this Easter morn let me encourage you to leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity. How marvelous to be in Christ growing into a deeper relationship with Him. Thank you Lord for your death and resurrection all praise honor and glory to your Name. Thank you Lord for our new life in you. Praise God.

What’s Impeding Your Faith?

The Bible says, “Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth (Luke 18:8b).” The answer is not a lot for most in the later days will allow many things to impede their faith. Although there will be a faithful remnant, I am sure that their faith will be mocked by the world. It will seem inconsistent with reason and against all the established norms of a pagan world. Unlike the faithless who had long given up their faith, they will continue to cry out day and night for God to vindicate them by righteously judging their oppressors. They will continue to cry out asking God to fulfill all His promises, especially the one that does not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can handle (See I Corinthians 10:13). Over the course of time they have learned well the things that impede their faith, being careful to resist them at every point. So, what are these things that impede our faith?

Perhaps the biggest thing to impede our faith is listening to, believing in, and appropriating the world’s wisdom into our life. Clearly, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. So, to chase after the knowledge in the world puts you on a very slippery slope. Of course, we are not talking about all knowledge, but the knowledge that pertains to life, such as, godly communication, instructions concerning our interpersonal relationships, and specific instructions concerning our spousal relationship. It gives knowledge to parents on how to raise their children in the Lord and their financial responsibility to one’s family. It gives lessons on spiritual growth and the use of our spiritual gifts. It gives directives concerning our relationship to both the church and the government. It also gives timeless knowledge on how to care for our own body by learning how to deal with emotional and psychological problems, along with good eating habits, exercise, and sleep. There is endless knowledge from God’s Holy Word that gives us everything we need for living a godly life. However, if we refuse to follow God’s direction then we are inclined to follow a mixed bag of knowledge from the world and from our self.

This assimilated information moves us further away from God’s divine plan for our life, thus impeding our faith, and putting us on the downward path toward death and destruction. Our faith in God will cause us to seek out His knowledge alone, on how to live out life pleasing to Him. A life full of spiritual energy to become all that God wants us to be in this life. A life full of indescribable joy that has learned the power of forgiveness, of turning the other cheek, and going the extra mile with others. A healthy life both mentally and physically that has learned from God how to deal immediately with grief, loneness, guilt, depression, anxiety, and many other problems, not by using psychiatric drugs or receiving the world’s counsel, but by following the Wonderful Counselor and His methods that have worked for thousands of years before psychology had ever arrived on the scene. The more we follow the Knowledge of God by putting it into our lives the stronger our faith grows and the more we grow spiritually from one degree of glory to another. Friends, please don’t follow your self-knowledge and the world’s knowledge, especially when it disagrees with God’s knowledge, which is His divine plan for your life.

The second thing that will impede our faith is giving up, which is demonstrated by our lack of prayer and the reading of God’s Word – the Bible. It is so sad that so many just go through the motions of being a faithful Christian. They may pray, but not from the heart believing that God is actually listening. They don’t pray believing if it’s God’s will then the prayer will be answered. They may even read the Bible, but they get nothing out of it or what they do get comes from their own self-consciousness and not from God or His Holy Spirit. They simply give up trying to become all that God wants them to be in this life. So, many of them chase after the world’s entertainment, sports, hobbies, and other social activities to fill up the void in their life caused by not following God as they should. The faithful Christian prays all the time believing in his heart that God is not only listening, but also giving him direction through the indwelling Holy Spirit. We must not give up. To give up impedes our faith, stops our spiritual growth, and separates us from all the joy of being a new creation in Christ.

The third thing that impedes our faith is not believing that God will deliver us from our oppressors. These I call the silent Christians. They go around walking on egg shells being careful to never rock the boat. They go out of their way to act like others in the world so they can be accepted and not mocked or ridiculed. Refusing to step out on faith weakens our faith, which in time will impede our faith. Although it is clear from Scripture that God will vindicate us, many have taken the low path and decided not to trust God to deliver them from those who may cause them harm. This vindication from God could come at the end of our life. We may not even get to see it, but it will come. It may not be soon, but it will come quickly often times when we least expect it. The Bible says, “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth” (Luke 18:7-8)? The dividing line has already been drawn between the liberal and the conservative. It has already been drawn between the Christian who decides to follow all of God’s knowledge in the Bible alone and for those who have decided to assimilate it with the world’s knowledge. The later proudly proclaims that God simply did not give us all the information needed for the 21st Century and it’s up to humanity to fill in the blanks. Yet, they are mistaken, because the knowledge is there. It just needs to be re-discovered and put into the life of the believer. Christians who do not want to impede their faith must step out on faith by proclaiming the truth to everyone who spouts the world’s knowledge and spurns the knowledge of God. To do so will restore our faith.

The fourth thing that impedes our faith is listening to the lies of the enemy. He will tell you that you are just wasting your time in prayer. Better just go so see a Doctor or a Psychiatrist. Clearly, there is a time to see a Doctor to address our physical concerns, but even that does not limit our need for prayer. For I have seen many miracles where even the Doctors admitted to observing a real miracle in their patients. The enemy also lies about your worth before God. As a new person in Christ you are worth everything to Him, but the enemy will whisper in your ear that you are worthless by reminding you of the things you did in your past. The enemy will tell you, “How could God forgive someone like you?” He may even go so far as to say that you are not even saved. To listen to the lies of the enemy will impede your faith. To listen to God alone will increase your faith allowing you to stand firm against the enemy in all of his malicious attacks.

Will Christ find faith upon the earth when He returns in glory? The good news is that Christ will find a very strong faith among the faithful remnant, but He will find none among many who claim to be Christian. Let me encourage you dear friends to rediscover all the treasures in the Bible and see for yourself that God has indeed given us everything we need for life and godliness. In fact, the Bible says so, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (II Peter 1:3). Amen. The Bible never mixes words. If it says all things that pertain to life and godliness, then that is exactly what it means. So, please dear friend get out your Bibles, some of you may need to dust them off, and start to read day and night if necessary until you come to a deeper understanding of this knowledge that will strengthen your faith and prepare you for the days ahead.

Four Most Horrifying Words

What a glorious day that will be at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but for some it will not be so glorious. The unbelieving world will cower in their caves crying out to the rocks to fall upon them and hide them from the coming Lord and His wrath. (See Revelation 6:16-17). On the other hand, all those who claimed to believe in Christ will be awakened at an hour they did not expect and will rush out to meet the Lord with glad tidings in their heart thinking all is well. They all without exception had become drowsy and fell asleep, because the promise of His coming had been for a very long time. To this date its been nearly two thousand years since the promise was first given to His disciples. Perhaps the great missionary efforts had ceased and revivals had become a relic of the past replaced with conferences geared to a favorite doctrine. Even one on one evangelism was frowned upon my most for being too exclusive. It appears that the entire church drifted off to sleep and was only now awakened at the news of Christ’s return which no doubt caused much panic among all to let their light shine in a very dark world as they all rushed to meet the bridegroom.

Let’s be clear that these were all virgins who came out to meet the Lord. (See the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25:1-13). They all at one point in their life repented of their sins and promised to follow Jesus Christ as their Savior. On the surface, they all pretty much looked and acted the same and considered themselves believers and looked forward to spending eternity in heaven. Yet, when Jesus Christ observed them at His coming He saw to kinds of virgins, foolish and wise. The foolish virgins thought they had everything going for them, no doubt believers who had repented log ago of their immorality, learned all the doctrines, faithfully attended their respective churches, and probably even did their share of good works. However, one thing was tragically missing, they mostly relied on their own light and rarely sought the greater light of the Holy Spirit, and when they did, they didn’t really use it, but was looking to cover all the bases. They had forgotten even how to secure the greater light when the hour had grown late and it was needful to be full of the Spirit at the coming of our Lord. All they could muster at the time was their religious light expressing all the correct words of love and sound doctrine, but empty of the indwelling Spirit. How tragic to be told I never knew you. The four most horrifying words! To be told we had no intimate relationship. Can you hear Christ say, “You never allowed me to direct your path; you often stopped your ears or ignored my instructions; you were not obedient to all my commands, but obedient only to those you chose to follow.”

Whereas, the wise virgins always depended on Me to direct their path and worked very hard at discerning my voice as opposed to the voice of their old nature or the voice of the enemy. Right in the beginning we started building an intimate relationship becoming a true host of the Holy Spirit, not to take over, but to work with them to build a new life in Christ. It was not long before the barnacles of the old sin nature began to fall off. They eventually became free of all their self-imposed bondages where in time the old life was not even recognized by their closest friends. They grew ever more dependent upon the inner light of the indwelling Spirit and they rarely sought to let their own light shine, but always giving credit to the greater light, all to the glory of God. On the other hand, the foolish virgins always steeped in pride easily took credit for their own religious accomplishments. They even went so far as proclaiming that their works of casting out evil or witnessing healing was done by the Holy Spirit for whom they had no intimate relationship. Jesus said, I never knew you. The foolish virgins grieved the Holy Spirit many times and attempted to put out the Holy Spirit’s fire. Instead of recognizing the unique work of the Holy Spirit they attributed it to some other explanation. They also rebuked the working of the Holy Spirit by denying its powerful working in our day and grieved the Holy Spirit by refusing to follow His leading.

On the other hand, the wise virgins fanned the flames of the Holy Spirit by allowing Him to bring forth great miracles of healing or casting out the enemy when they were positive it was He who was doing the work. They never grieved the indwelling Spirit, but always listened to His voice and leading. At the Second Coming of Jesus Christ guess who was ready and allowed the greater light to shine forth to illuminate the darkness of the hour. Although they both slept, it was the wise virgins who awoke to let their inner light of the indwelling Spirit to shine brightly. They were ready at His coming and rejoiced in meeting the Bridegroom. Let me tell you the foolish virgins were very shocked to hear the words of our returning Lord. Words they never expected to hear. How could Jesus Christ say, “I never knew you!” How about all the work in the Kingdom, it meant nothing. How about all the Bible studies and times of worship, it meant nothing. Yes, they never really knew the Holy Spirit and Christ said, “I never knew you.” To know the Holy Spirit is to be known by Christ.

Friends, it not too late to start building a personal, intimate relationship with the indwelling Holy Spirit following His lead and listening to His voice alone. It is the Spirits primary job to convict the believer to turn immediately from their sin and follow the path of righteousness. If you are not convicted by the Holy Spirit when you are openly sinning against God, then don’t try to convince me that you have the indwelling Holy Spirit. Because He will convict you and it will be the most horrible feeling that you are openly being held accountable to the highest court in heaven, for your sin against a Holy God. You will feel tremendously uncomfortable continuing in the sin. Secondly, we are admonished by Scripture to keep in the step with the indwelling Spirit. So how do we keep in step with the Spirit. We keep in step by doing what we see the Spirit doing. Don’t be resistant or sluggish, but step out quickly, keep in step. It’s essential that we learn to recognize the voice of the indwelling Spirit and to recognize His moving within so that we can quickly step out and keep in step with Him. If it’s just a flash of inspiration, a light coming on, or a still small voice we need to immediately confirm that it comes from the Spirit, obey and follow His guidance. Dear Christian don’t run ahead of Him trying to magnify our own little light, but learn to wait upon the greater light that leads us step by step. Clearly, we may not know the whole plan or even the outcome, so it will be necessary to trust His leading.

To be filled with the Spirit is allowing Him to have full access to everything we think, say, or do. This is essential for every true believer, because it confirms that we are following one of the fundamentals of our faith as discussed last week. If the enemy brings bad thoughts or images to your mind immediately seek the Spirits help in casting them out and focusing on the beautiful things of Christ. The Bible says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things” (Philippians 4:8, NIV). It is the Holy Spirit’s job to help you keep your mind pure, free from all evil thoughts and images. Please, dear children, Allow the indwelling Spirit to do His job.

Dear children once we have built and maintained a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit then we can say that we are ready for the Second Coming of Christ and will be eager to go out to meet the Bridegroom. It will be glorious day indeed. However, let’s not miss the incredible joy that we experience now and every day having the indwelling Spirit bring so many good things into our life. Remember, it is He who helps us put off the old life and put on the new. It is He who writes God’s commands upon our heart so that we do not sin against Him and so that we learn how to love God and one another. Remember it is He who produces every manner of Spiritual fruit in the life of the believer. This is not just wishful thinking for if we allow the Spirit to do His job then He will produce fruit of the Spirit which is “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and, temperance.” Yes, it is His job to make us into a new creation. Remember it is He who gives us the needed tools (Spiritual Gifts) for building up the Kingdom of God. Where would we be without the Apostles, prophets, and teachers to guide and instruct God’s children. Where would we be without the other gifts working in the life of the Church – the gift of service, helps, giving, exhortation, administration, or encouragement. And I can insure you these are not all the gifts for there are many and various gifts given to build up the Kingdom here on earth. To deny these gifts is clearly to put out the Spirit’s fire causing you to align with the foolish virgin.

So, do you really want to be ready for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ? Then start building a relationship with the indwelling Spirit. Some of you may need to repent first and turn from your sins asking the Spirit to take full control of your life. I pray that you will, for the time is short.

Formidable Voice to a Divided World

Should there be unity among all believers? This question has captivated the heart of man since the time of Christ. The Catholic church still embraces this notion of unity, but now allows great diversity among its ranks. The evangelical church has splintered off into a multitude of denominations each with their own exclusive doctrines and practices shunning the rest. This has also given rise to other fringe groups producing both fanatical and the heretical. Yet, Jesus Christ prayed for unity among all true believers, that they would be one as the Father and the Son are One, in unity of thought and action. Jesus went on to say that this unity among true believers would be a witness to the world that He was sent by the Father. Unity among all true believers would be a witness! Let me suggest that this would be a very powerful witness to a dying world that has all but rejected Jesus Christ as the only Savior. The voice of Christians and the diversity of His churches has had little effect upon the world. No one is listening. Yet they listen to the heathen in protest, while their numbers are very small, their voices are united. The unrighteous minority has had a profound effect upon the direction of this country, while the Christian Church has had almost none. Christian unity can have a formidable voice to a divided world, but before we continue it’s necessary to deal with the one objection that many have in our day when discussing unity.

So, what is that objection? Perhaps the greatest objection is what we see in the Catholic Church which has brought great diversity of doctrine into the church. Moreover, as of late much of this doctrine is embracing a liberal theology and an openness to accept other world religions on equal footing with Christianity. This kind of unity was aggressively disputed by the early Church and should also be aggressively disputed by the evangelical Christian. But even all this should not close the door to the kind of unity that our Lord and His Apostles spoke so highly about in the Bible. The unity that we as believers should strive for should be the fundamental truths of Christianity, that all believers must adhere to if they claim to be a Christian. If every true believer accomplished this and came together in unity they indeed would turn the world upside down. The world would hear a formidable voice! A voice that would tell the world that Christ did come in power to offer His salvation to the world; that we are not going quietly into the night; that we will not be overcome; and, if necessary we will all together suffer persecution rather than deny our faith. Let’s be clear the last thing we want is another denomination or another splinter group. On the other hand, we want all believers from whatever church they decide to attend to come together in unity of faith to stand up to the world with one voice. Let’s also be clear that we are not necessarily talking about standing against a certain administration, but we are talking about the world in general. We are letting our voice be heard for the people, all the people.

So, what is this fundamental faith that all true believers should possess? It’s actually quite simple, but very profound. Only fallen humanity has made it difficult. Before we get started you might ask yourself a question, “What’s in your faith that you would be willing to die for?” This will be the yardstick that we will use to measure the importance of your beliefs. Anything else in our cherished doctrines could be debated until Christ returns, but should not separate true believers in the Lord. It’s these open disagreements that have separated believers, thus having the world turn away shrugging their shoulders and stopping their ears. This must change. Only what we can agree on, can be openly proclaimed to the unbelieving world, all other religious discussion must remain mute. Even when having discussion among so called believers it must be made clear what’s imperative and what’s open for discussion. Until this happens we will never have the effect we want to have on the unbelieving world.

So, let’s look at the simple yet profound fundamentals of the Christian faith that we should all agree, to become that formidable voice to a divided world. It’s essential that we have a clear understanding of who Christ is and an understanding of the Gospel message. Clearly Jesus Christ is and was the expected Jewish Messiah fulfilling all the Old Testament prophecies about Him. He came to fulfill the role as a Suffering Servant and One who would take away the sins of the world. He came in the flesh, all human, but at the same time all divine as the only begotten Son of God. To reject either is counter Christian and aligns you with the cults, false prophets and other world religions that reject Christ’s divinity, such as the Islamic religion. Furthermore, all power in heaven and earth was given to Jesus Christ by the Father. Truly there is great power in the Name of Christ. Jesus Christ was pre-existence with the Father before the creation of the world and for humanity He is the alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Finally, it’s imperative to understand and agree with the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ that it is a gift from God, not by works unless anyone should boast, but it is by grace, an unmerited favor. Through faith believing that Jesus Christ is exactly who He said He was, and believing He did what He said He would do, to bring salvation to humanity. Yes, Jesus Christ did die on the Cross and all our sins was placed upon Him as an atoning sacrifice. And, yes on the third day Jesus Christ did arise from the grave and is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven making intercession for His followers. And, yes all our sins are forgiven and salvation is offered to all of humanity through faith, allowing us to escape the eternal damnation of hell, and to have life everlasting in heaven. Finally, Jesus Christ made it very clear that He is the only way to the Father, which eliminates all other religions. The Bible says, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:7). For this every true Christian should be willing to die. We believe in the simple, yet profound Gospel, which should unite all true believers in Christ.

The second fundamental is, what God does for the new believers in Christ. After repentance of sins and belief we are forgiven of all our sins past, present and future so that we can be made into a brand-new creation in Christ. This is more than just a clean slate. We are given a new personality, new likes and dislikes, and the heart of stone is replaced with a heart of love and compassion for all the people. Then immediately the Holy Spirit is given to every true believer as a guarantee of our future inheritance in heaven. Through the indwelling Spirit we now have direct access to the Father as a child of the King. There are many wonderful and great promises in the Bible, but by far these are the greatest. We accept these promises on faith. To do less is to doubt God and seriously question your position as a true believer in Christ. Not only does the indwelling Holy Spirit open our eyes to the truth and bring to memory everything that Jesus Christ taught He also comes bearing gifts for every believer in Christ. Along with this awesome gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit comes all the needed tools (or Spiritual gifts) for the ministry. Although, there may be some disagreement of which Gifts are available. Everyone should agree that a needed gift for a specific occasion does take place and I would venture to say that all true believers will experience the use of at least one Spiritual gift in their life time. Furthermore, it is the indwelling Spirit that produces Spiritual fruit in every true believer as we continue our Spiritual growth from one degree of glory to another.

The third fundamental is, what God expects from us. He expects us to grow spiritually from one degree of glory to another by daily putting off the old life (or the old man) and putting on the new life in Christ. Again, we have been given the tools to make this possible by allowing the indwelling Holy Spirit to write God’s commandments upon our hearts and then to bring conviction and encouragement when we fail to apply them to our new life in Christ. Christ said if you love me you will keep my commandments. And His commands are not burdensome but each helps us to love God and one another. It is sad to say that most of God’s commandments, even the ones in the New Testament alone, are completely overlooked, ignored, and not applied to the believer’s life. Yet, it is these commandments that really show us how to love God and our fellow man. It is these commands that takes us by the hand and leads us into the new life in Christ. It is the indwelling Holy Spirit that always convicts us and encourages us to apply them to our new life. If you are growing in Christ, then I can assure you that you have a great desire for unity with other true believers that hold to these fundamental beliefs. I can assure you that you have a great desire to allow your voice to be heard in a divided world.

All our marching to get the heathen world to obey God’s commandments will change nothing. All our preaching to the heathen about doing the right thing will change nothing. Even our favorite doctrine about eschatology will change nothing. It will not change hearts. The only thing that will change the heart of man is the Gospel along with the fundamental truths that all Christians share. To change the heart of man is only possible through the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Only when we come together believing that Christ brought us a new life in Him giving us the Gift of the Holy Spirit as our guarantee will we be able to affect the direction of this country. I say it again, where is the united and formidable voice for Jesus Christ? If the heathen can come together in small numbers and change the direction of this country and the world, imagine what God’s children can do if they only speak up. Speak together as one united voice for Christ. Please don’t take all your favorite hotly debated doctrines to the heathen, but only take the fundamentals of God’s Truth, what God has done for humanity and what He expects us to do. Nothing more and nothing less, then we will truly change the world for Christ.

Finishing the Race

Where is the joy and excitement we once had when we first came to know the Lord Jesus Christ? For many, they feel its been lost forever and whatever joy or excitement they do experience, it’s like a meteor lighting up the night sky for one joyous moment and then disappearing. So how do we keep that joy and excitement alive, especially in our older age when we are fraught with illnesses, physical limitations and unusual maladies? How do we keep it alive when we are facing various trials and tribulations? The simple answer, which begs for an explanation, is get back in the race. Unfortunately, many well many Christians are still sitting on the sidelines allowing Christianity to become little more than a good habit with poor results. So how do we leave this quagmire of constant learning without meaningful application; how do we return to the joy of our salvation where every day is a new day in the Lord filled with unbelievable excitement? Get back in the race. The Bible says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Let us run the race. I will tell you from personal experience it’s a hard thing to do when you struggle with health problems, which can cause difficulty even getting motivated. Yet, through all this we can stay in the race, we can run to win the prize. Although we may feel as if our life is already being poured out as a sacrifice to the Lord, we can press on by keeping our eyes upon the goal, our upward calling in Christ Jesus. The Bible tells us to lay aside every weight so that we can run the race. Think about the many distractions in our life that keep pulling us in one direction and then another. We live in a world full of distractions. I have discovered as of late that politics even with good intentions can be a huge distraction if left unchecked. We can add to that many other things that can distract us from running the race, from social media, to a host of videos and movies, sports games, worldliness, or anything that would keep our eyes off the goal. The Bible says lay aside every weight. It also says to lay aside every sin that so easily besets us. We all without a doubt have our own besetting sins. Each person must examine his own life to determine which one or ones he still holds onto tightly. It could be little or could be big, but it’s still a sin that can trip us up and keep us from running the race. It could be pride, the love of money, bitterness, refusal to ever turn the other cheek, quenching the Holy Spirit, doubting God, unbelief or anything that would keep our eyes off Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith.

Through all this we all need motivation. The Bible says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1a). In fact, we are greatly motivated by those witnesses who have gone on before us running the race set before them by keeping their faith in God. These witnesses were actually martyrs giving up their lives in their service to God by proclaiming His truth. When Jesus Christ came, He blazed the trail by being the author and finisher of our faith. He was the premier example of possessing a faith in God to fulfill all His promises to the Son and to the world. It’s this kind of faith that keeps us in the race, headed for the goal, and cheered on by the great cloud of witnesses. This is much more than just believing all the right doctrine. It believes that God fulfills all His promises, for which Bible students know, there are many. For this article, we will only look at two, to me the two most sublime of all promises made to those who believe in God.

The first promise to the believers is the security for those who have genuinely died to self and taken up the cross to follow Christ in obedience to His commands and believing that God has power to save them from their sins. Our security believes that nothing can snatch us out of the Father’s hand (See John 10:29) and that nothing can separate us from His love (See Romans 8:35). There is great joy knowing that you are safe and secure in the Father’s hands and that literally nothing can separate us from His divine love. This takes faith believing that God will fulfill on all His promises and most assuredly it includes our salvation. The second promise is to believe that God makes every true believer into a new creation. The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). Just how important is this point? Can I effectively run the race and not believe it? The short answer is no, because like the first point it is tied irrevocably to our salvation. You simply cannot have one without the other. The whole purpose of salvation and running the race set before us is spiritual growth. Growing us from one degree of glory to another (See II Corinthians 3:18), and by putting off the old life and putting on the new (See Ephesians 4:22-24); to being made into the perfect image of the Son (See Romans 8:29), who is the author and finisher of our faith.

So, to run the race we must allow the Holy Spirit to do His job of growing us into this new creation where old things pass away. This is where your witness to the truth will put you in the cross hairs of Satan and the world who wants to keep you in the old sin-filled life ministering to it through their psychobabble and addicted to their mind-altering drugs. It takes God given faith to break loose and escape the bondage imposed upon them by the world. Believing that God can cure all our emotional and psychological problems. Believing that all the old hurts from the past life will eventually fall away with every step we take into the new life. At this point we have not shed any blood as a true witness. Yet, we are living in the midst of the rebellion against God, and in time this will all change, especially when we as true believers resist their counsel and refuse their drugs. So, what’s needed my friends is patient endurance as we run the race keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ.

Finally, we look to the finish line and to our crown of righteousness given to all who complete the race. Although we may not feel that our departure is immediately at hand, we should have no problem if it was, because should we not all long to be in heaven with our Lord, experiencing all that heaven offers. Like the Apostle Paul, we should all feel as though we have fought the good fight by not only running the race set before us, but having stood for the truth that salvation in Christ gives us a brand-new life in Him. At times in the midst of the rebellion we may feel as though we have stood against the entire world and have suffered greatly for it. From my own personal testimony, even so called Christians can be very cruel launching a volley of arrows piercing our heart with false accusations, hateful language and even threats. Therefore, it is necessary to run the race with patient endurance not allowing distractions, besetting sins, or even the abuse from others to keep us out of the race. My prayer is that at least a faithful remnant will come together in these last days to stand for truth and righteousness and will be able to carry the light of God’s salvation message to the lost even in the face of violent opposition. When it’s finally time to depart, to cast off into a greater sea bond for the shores of Heaven then you can say along with the cloud of witness that we had kept the faith in God and finished the race.

Discerning the Dark Forces of Evil

As deception is falling upon this world are you being deceived or do you have discernment? The extent of the deception in the last days is mind boggling. How strong is this deception? The Bible says, “And it was given unto him (the coming Beast) to make war with the saints, and to overcome them; and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (the Beast), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8). To me it is mind boggling that the entire world can be so deceived. Well, the reason is also given. The entire world was deceived “because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (See II Thessalonians 2:10). Indeed, the love of the truth will open our spiritual eyes and give us needed discernment for the days in which we live, which we will discuss in detail.

At this point, however, let’s look closely at the meaning, “love of the truth.” The truth is so great we should be compelled to love it beyond anything else in this world. At the very heart of this truth is salvation, yet many in our day have simply glossed over it seeing very little blessing here and not clear about what lies ahead in a future beyond this life. To receive this love of the truth, then one needs to understand that the blessing begins the moment we receive it. Once received then we are immediately ushered into a new life through faith where old things pass away, behold all things are new. All guilt, all sin, and all pain from the old life is forgiven and we can no longer be held in bondage, but set free to live a glorious new life in Christ Jesus. Praise God. As long as we are allowing the world to lead us to hold on to the old life and be ministered to through its psychobabble then we have not loved the truth and deception has already overtaken us. And this will lead into a far greater deception unable to see beyond our physical eyes.

On the other hand, discernment looks into the Spiritual realm and observes how humanity is being controlled in large part by the powers of darkness and the ruler of this age. There are very few people who have spiritual discernment, because they misunderstand what it means in the first place, and secondly, they are not prepared to spend time listening to only what the Spirit says. In these last days, it’s absolutely essential to have people who have spiritual discernment in order to warn the Christian community and speak for God when no one is listening. It is the ability to look beyond the physical realm, from all that’s being said, and reported and see the spiritual realm of darkness that’s moving unregenerate man to do its bidding. The calculated moves of the dark forces to lead people astray or to misinterpret events have destroyed whole nations and kept humanity in bondage to the dark forces of evil. Just a cursory look at the movie industry, the music industry, and the proliferation of media outlets we can see how the forces of darkness have been using them to lead the world into bondage of sin and immorality. For the spiritual man, he must look beyond the story line of all the movies and see that sexual immorality, homosexuality, and the transgender are openly accepted in their new world view of globalization that sees no religion over another. The mainline news media have also joined forces with this liberal mindset along with most colleges in the United States to teach their progressive agenda that everything is acceptable in the new world. Just because it appears that the new Administration might be on the side of Christianity and its values, we must remain vigilant allowing God to speak to the spiritual man exposing any accommodation to the new world with its liberal mindset.

Let’s be clear that most of this discernment of how the liberal mindset is leading the world to follow the dark forces of evil have been recognized by most Christians, it’s also clear that most Christians have not discerned how the dark forces evil have already led many into bondage and away from loving the truth. This takes greater spiritual discernment accessed only by those willing to take a stand against the powers of evil that has already captured the hearts and minds of nearly everyone in the world. Simply put any teaching that does not recognize the new life in Christ where we are made into a new creation is one that’s been propagated by the dark forces of evil. We at CAPA Ministry has faithfully stood against this evil teaching. We believe that a new person in Christ is no longer in bondage to the old life and has no need for those who want to cure him by accessing the old life. The Bible teaches every Christian to put off the old life and put on the new, which is a process overseen by the indwelling Spirit as He writes God’s laws on the heart of the new man. If we truly believe that God is making us into the perfect image of His Son without the help of unregenerate man, then it can be said that we “love the truth.” We are praying that the new Administration under President Donald J. Trump will see this evil and not allow everyone to be psychoanalyzed and given mind altering drugs to improve their productivity or control their behavior.

There is another side to spiritual discernment, a side that sees God and His heavenly host at work in the life of man, his relationships, his environment, and his established order. Most only look within to their own knowledge base, their own supposed ability to interpret Scripture, or reason things out, based on what they perceive to be common sense or reasonable. The unregenerate man can receive nothing or understand spiritual things. Although he may be extremely intelligent able to memorize great portions of Scripture and their interpretations and have a clear understanding of the original languages, but without the Spirit of God he can really understand nothing. For this kind of spiritual discernment has led people astray since the beginning of time and will continue to so until the end. Yet, the spiritual man with perhaps a lot less education can and will understand the spiritual truths of God, because we have the mind of Christ.

So how can we as mere men receive such spiritual discernment and know for sure that we have it. Well, let me begin by saying that if you have it and can truly interpret the times in which we live by looking into the spiritual realm, then you simply will not be able to keep it in, for it will be like burning coals that must come out even at your own peril. Secondly, to be given spiritual discernment will cause you to cry out as the old prophets did saying “Woe is me, a man of unclean lips.” It will also show you just how majestic this discernment is in comparison to your own feeble attempt to see and understand. Furthermore, once you have seen and understand what’s really happening beyond the physical eyes it will cast you down again in all humility questioning how you a mere man can share this publicly where people will be frightened and unable to accept your warning. So, unlike the many false prophets who do seek to frighten or make such bold statements, you are led to lead the people gently one step at a time uncovering the mystery so all can be seen and understood.

To listen to the indwelling Spirit and not to self is indeed a road far less traveled. Even once there it’s always a spiritual struggle to stay on it, because it’s always much more comfortable to listen to self. We may be a watchman on the wall or a lone voice crying in the wilderness, but whatever we are we must know it’s God voice crying out to a world that refuses to listen. I pray that every Christian will desire discernment for indeed the time is short. The world is moving at lightning speed at the point of even overwhelming the unregenerate man, Yet, for the Christian with spiritual discernment he sees that God is allowing the pieces to fall into place so that the coming Beast or Lawless one can take his place upon the world stage causing the entire world to offer him praise and worship. Dear children, please don’t be overcome by the deluding influence sent by God to those who have rejected the love of the truth. Trust God for this new life in Him. Discernment of the Dark Forces of Evil is only possible if you are walking in this new life in Christ. And if you are then, rejoice before the entire world of your new freedom, giving God all the praise, glory and worship – to Him alone. Amen

Love All the Children

A Love note from God, to all pregnant women (and parents who have accepted the greatest gift imaginable). As you’re sitting there contemplating the life that’s within you please realize that God, creator of all that exist, has plans for your child as he’s being formed within the womb. What an amazing thought. That this child of yours could be used of God in some mighty task in saving others or establishing His Kingdom here on earth. This child of yours could end up being the President of the United States of America; or some great scientist who discovers the cure for some horrible disease like Alzheimer’s; or some great evangelist that would turn the peoples heart back to God and His magnificent love. Can you only imagine what would have happened if Mary would’ve chosen abortion to escape people not understanding the miraculous birth of a virgin? Because of her faithfulness, the Son of God was born in human flesh to bring salvation to humanity. Even if your child does not climb to such heights, he will still have a tremendous effect upon others living in the world. Just think about the number of lives that you have personally touched. Perhaps some for the good and some for the bad, but either way it may have helped them to grow stronger and more resolute to face the many trials and tribulations in the world.

The greatest gift that God has given to humanity is the gift of life through the natural act of procreation. It is so unfortunate that this beautiful act has been reduced to only sexual pleasures with no thought of bringing forth life to be cherished and loved. The gift is for you, for there are countless stories how a child born to struggling parents have gone on to bring great blessings to its parents, emotional, psychological, and even financial. Please don’t haphazardly throw this gift away, but embrace it with all the vigor and strength that you can muster, accepting the responsibility with faith that God will provide for your every need, along with the child’s. Let us love all the children even the child that is being formed within your womb.

Then, what a joy it is to see your little child grow up taking on his own unique personality. God protected him while he was in the womb, now it’s our responsibility to protect him from a world who desperately wants to mold him into its own image of free choice and gross immorality. As little sponges they soak up everything you say and do as the ultimate role model for humanity. Although, at times the responsibility may seem overbearing, it is God who gives dear Mothers and Fathers the grace and knowledge through His Bible to raise their children in the way they should go, for indeed the promise is true that says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Just remember that God is with you and your child. He wants to hear from you through heart felt prayers and repentance, so that He can lavish you with His many blessings and benefits, the greatest blessing of all, is a new life in Christ.
