Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/7/2019
Good morning Heavenly Father. In our prayers this morning, Oh Lord, lead us to contemplate your suffering and the great hope that you displayed as you hung on the Cross. We know and believe that your suffering was purposeful; it had meaning, it was not nihilistic. Why? Because Your suffering was for others. We desire to have fellowship in your suffering, letting our suffering also count for something. We pray that our suffering will not be meaningless often caused by selfishness and bad choices. Oh Lord, we pray that if we must suffer, let it always be for others helping them to see and understand the truth of our purpose in life, to live for others and not for ourselves. We pray that everything we do; we do for others as you did upon the earth. We pray that we have fellowship in Your suffering. Not only suffering but also to experience the power of your resurrection; to have the ability to look beyond our suffering to the glories of Heaven where all suffering will cease. We pray that we will have this kind of hope. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death” (Philippians 3:10).
PRAYERS FOR THE LAST WEEK, IN CASE YOU MISSED ONE
Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 12/6/2019
Good morning Heavenly Father. As we approach the Word, in the Bible, this morning, we have discovered one of the most joyous, yet saddest verses in the Bible. It’s the saddest because many who claim to know you, have not known you through the indwelling Spirit. They are still blinded by Satan and cannot see the Spirit of truth. They relish the stories in the Bible and have learned to talk our language but have not really known the Spirit that dwells in the true believer. On the other hand, we rejoice greatly that through faith in Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, we have come to know the Spirit of truth in a very intimate way. For it is He that leads us into all truth bringing us untold spiritual blessings, even if we must suffer many things in this world. We pray that all those who claim to know you in the world would also come to know the Spirit. We pray that you will lift the veil from their eyes so that they can see the Spirit and have fellowship with Him through faith. We pray this in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you” (John 14:17).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you, Jesus Christ, for sending us the Comforter to dwell in every believer. This is not only a true mark of our Christianity but the greatest desire of every believer to spent time in the Spirit as if they were spending time with You, our Lord. As you taught, directed, encouraged, and comforted your disciples in the flesh, you are now doing the same to us in the Spirit. Praise God! What a tremendous joy it is to walk with You every day in the Spirit learning from the Master Himself. It’s rather difficult for us, Oh Lord, to understand how people who claim to know you refuse your comfort and guidance allowing their selves to be consumed with every emotional and psychological problem known to man. When life’s struggles are there greatest, we have the assurance and past experiences that you are right here with us giving us the counsel, comfort, and loving presence that we so desperately need. We pray that your children will learn to quiet themselves before you and be filled with the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever” (John 14:16).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank Father God for the awesome responsibility we have in prayer not only for ourselves but for everyone in our family. We not only pray for ourselves but for each member of our family that they too will be provided with all their essential needs for life. Thank you, Lord, for teaching us that our needs reach well beyond the physical to also include the spiritual and psychological needs of our families. We pray that you remind us of this daunting, yet rewarding, task that must be done every day. In so doing, we are forced to ask ourselves what “are the real needs of our family members” so that we can pray aright, so that we can remember their emotional, psychological, and physical needs. You have taught us that this task of praying for our families must also include our spiritual family who also struggle daily and who are in need of all the provisions that you so freely offer to your beloved children. Lead us to always pray very specifically for each need as you reveal them through your Spirit. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Every day, Lord, you know that we are faced with the daunting task of using the right words and even images to convey your thoughts to a fallen world. To convey your thoughts, from the indwelling Spirit, about the real condition of fallen humanity and its need for repentance. We have discovered that we need more than just the right words to open their minds and hearts to the truth. In a very visual society, we need images that will awaken the soul and fire more than just the imagination; images that will convey your truth. Oh Lord, we pray for such wisdom not only in our spoken words but also in the images we share. We pray that all of our words and images come directly from you and not from our vain imaginations that seek glory and honor only for ourselves. Teach us to wait quietly on you to give us everything we need through the indwelling Spirit to bring glory only to you in both our spoken words and images. We know to do so will confound our adversaries. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist” (Luke 21:15).

Good morning Heavenly Father. “They did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity!” Oh Lord, how this verse keeps ringing in our ears today. Your church and her people have become so soft and pleasing to the world offering them exactly what they are looking for in comfort and austerity. We pray that you send a wakeup call to all your children to rebuke the world of their sins, by refusing to participate in them. As they withdraw from their schools, social clubs, forms of entertainment, and their religious organizations, let them warn them sternly that they will reap the consequences of their sins against a holy God. Let them proclaim loudly to the masses that their sins are at the root of ALL the world’s problems and that nothing will ever get better until they openly repent. Government decrees and politicians will not fix their problems. Even religion will not fix their problems. Only true repentance will ever fix their problems. We pray that you will give every child of God an opportunity and boldness to do their part in ushering in your eternal Kingdom. We pray this in Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading” (Lamentations 2:14, NIV). https://www.danielsblog.org/daily-devotion/

Good morning Heavenly Father. Why do some people suffer so greatly where they are constantly plagued with both physical and psychological problems? Why do they struggle with overcoming their sins that are keeping them in bondage? We often wonder, Oh Lord, if the underlying problem is much deeper than they might openly admit. We perceive in the Spirit that their real problems may have resulted from their unwillingness to truly forgive others from the heart. They too have become the unforgiven. Without your forgiveness then we are destined for a life of stress, misery, emotional, and psychological upheaval. Without your forgiveness then it’s impossible to enjoy the tremendous joy that comes from a closer walk with you. Without your forgiveness, it’s impossible to receive all your many blessings for a long and prosperous life. We pray that you will teach all of your beloved children how to truly forgive others from the heart so that nothing will hinder your forgiveness. Oh Lord, please let them understand the three principles of true forgiveness, by not bringing it up again, by not telling others, and not dwelling on it. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:15).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Why do we endure trouble? Why have we been perplexed but not in despair? Why have we been persecuted by those who hate our writings and the truth of the Gospel, but not forsaken? Why have we been cast down again and again, but we have not been destroyed? We believe that you have shown us, Oh Lord, that it is all for the sake of the indestructible Gospel that must be delivered to your beloved children; delivered to your children who also struggle in the world. We believe that it is to give your beloved children an example of how you continually pick them up and not allow them to be overcome by the evil world. Our hearts are overjoyed that we once again have the blessed opportunity to deliver your truth not only to your beloved children but also to a dying and frustrated world that struggles daily with their anger and stress. Thank you for the peace, the joy, and the strength that you have so freely given to us, your children to fight the good fight of faith. We pray this in the Blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed” (II Corinthians 4:8-9).
