Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 8/14/2018

Good morning Heavenly Father. Decisions, decisions, decisions. we are faced with many decisions, especially if we are facing a trial or time of affliction. We can look at the path before us and use human logic or what others have boastfully said, “I’ve ran the numbers or have done my research.” For the Christian, however, you have taught us Lord that human logic is not always the best choice. You have taught us that we need Heavenly wisdom in our decision making. This wisdom from heaven not only helps us to apply biblical truth to our lives but helps us also to see and understand the reason for our trial or affliction in the first place. Praise God. When we pray for this wisdom it opens our spiritual eyes to see the best path forward that we most often must take on faith. Thank you, Lord, for freely giving us this wisdom just for the asking, but it’s essential that we ask in faith, believing. This morning we ask you for wisdom to understand our affliction and for the best path going forward. We pray this in the loving Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Oh LORD, there are many of your beloved children who are in great distress today. Some suffer from physical problems while others are suffering from emotional and psychological trauma. We pray, Oh LORD that you encourage them to cry out to you in their pain and anguish and not keep the matter to themselves. Let them first enter the prayer closet, shut the door, and take the time necessary to be in the Spirit, and then cry out to you. We know from years of experience that you always listen to our cries and bring relief quickly. Although we may continue for short while in agony the peace that defies understanding finally enters our hearts as you give us assurance that in your time we will be delivered. Thank you, Father, for also showing us many times in the past that we don’t suffer as the pagan because if we ever receive a momentary affliction of anxiety, fear, or even depression then we are quickly restored, and the joy of our salvation enters our hearts. Praise the LORD. We pray this in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears” (Psalms 18:6).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Oh Lord, our Spirit cries out in agony this morning as we reflect upon the loving heart of our Savior who forgave the entire world for their hate and cruelty. “Father forgive them; for they know what they do.” As He hung on a Cross of suffering between heaven and hell He had no thoughts of His own pain and suffering but was moved to forgive an un-concerning world casting lots for his clothes. His great love breached the divide separating all of humanity paving a new Way of love and forgiveness. We pray today and every day that we will demonstrate this love and forgiveness to a world plunged into darkness by hate and discord. That we your children would reach out now to a world that can see its destruction on the horizon as fires and earthquakes ravage our homes but are still allowing un-forgiveness to divide them. Let your children reach out now to model this self-giving love and forgiveness in the midst of our own suffering with the hope that it will open their eyes before it’s too late. We pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots” (Luke 23:34).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Oh Lord we thank you for creating in us a clean heart when we first surrendered our lives to you. Yet, it did not take long before your children began to fill their hearts once again with all manner of evil from observing and participating in the things of the world. Instead of immediately casting out the vile thoughts many of your beloved children chose to keep and even dwell on them thinking that they have power to control them. We pray, Oh Lord that you would impress upon them the great danger in attempting to control the evil stored in their hearts. We pray that all your children will cast out the evil immediately through repentance and confession only filling their hearts with good and righteous thoughts from your many wonderful teachings. Teach us to be very careful with the things we choose to store up in our hearts knowing that they will direct our current and future behavior as well as our standing with you, our most Holy God. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man” (Matthew 15:18).

Good morning Heavenly Father. Why does the world expect you to give up, to quit fighting and to stop holding onto those things that are important? Thank you, Lord, for showing us that we must press on to win the prize, to our upward calling in Christ Jesus. We simply cannot give up because of our age, our income status, our social standing or even our physical limitations. We must press on. This is the voice we keep hearing so strong this morning. We cannot limit what God wants to accomplish in our lives. The race is not over yet until we have reached the mark and won the prize. There is no retirement where we have nothing to do but kick back and enjoy what the world has to offer. We may move a bit slower and take longer to get going, but we must not give up until we are standing before you, our Lord in Heaven. We pray, Oh Lord that you give us strength beyond our age to accomplish your will on earth as it is in heaven. We pray this in the Name of our Beloved Savior Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).

Good morning Heavenly Father. How glorious, Oh Lord to had been able to have seen your majesty, as those who were taken up to the mountain to see you transfigured and to have heard the voice from heaven. Oh Lord, we now live in a day where everyone is listening to the scientists and not you, saying they know what is coming upon the world through global warming but have missed the truth of who is coming in great power and glory. Even many of your children have missed the fact that every eye shall see this glorious coming; a coming that will not be in secret for even the wicked will see. Thank Father that your beloved Son will return before we completely destroy our only home, planet Earth; that He will precede its final destruction by fire. We pray that we all would look forward to this glorious coming by proclaiming this truth about your coming and by living as holy children separated from an evil world. Lead us to store up our treasures in Heaven and not on Earth. We pray this in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty” (II Peter 1:16).

Prayers by Rev. Daniel W. Blair 8/8/2018

Good morning Heavenly Father. What is life? Oh Lord, many today among those who claim to know you have no idea as they blindly follow the world in its constant change to keep everyone enslaved. We as a people have lost our way as Satan tightens his grip. Oh Lord, teach all your beloved children that life is intimately knowing you the one true God and being known by you. In so doing it takes precedent over every other activity that people are calling life. To truly know you experiences your magnificent love that cannot be contained; it’s so overflowing that it must be given away, given to others. To follow the world in its hate by spreading its slander, its gossip, and its malicious secrets keeps us enslaved to the world unable to experience the bountiful life from knowing you our one true God. Satan is using many tools today to keep most of humanity busy and in bondage to what he calls life: surfing, listening, watching and absorbing everything and gaining nothing. Oh Lord, help us to never be counted among that number. We pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3).

This is a sampling of some of my previous prayers. Coming soon one year of my prayers will be put into a new Devotional Book that will be available here online and in your local bookstore.
