“The truth will set you free,” has rung through all the hallowed halls of humanity since these words were first uttered two millennia ago by the Son of God. As the world goes deeper and deeper into bondage, they still don’t understand the meaning of these amazingly powerful words. Consequently, the world is still being held captive by the powers of darkness, which has created enslavement to every emotional and psychological problem known to mankind. Hate and hostility are literally ripping them apart as the whole world is racing toward Armageddon. The prophets of old spoke about a time in the future when the spirit of Antichrist would arise as the man of lawlessness in an age of unchecked anarchy and unfettered lawlessness. Well, the time is now, and the great nations of the earth have sunk deeper into bondage legalizing every abominable transgression against God’s holy law. It’s most difficult to just read the headlines in the daily news media where nearly every story has humanity fighting against one another with slanderous words, unbelievable accusations, and unfiltered propaganda or some new conspiracy theory. There is not a day that goes by where people are savagely killed, wounded, or even tortured beyond belief. Listen, and you can hear their voices crying out in agony with no known escape from their horrific captivity.
Rise up faithful remnant and explain how miraculously the truth will set them free. To understand this truth we need to understand who we really are in this vast universe. As humans, we are different from every other life form on the planet, we have the ability to think complex thoughts and retain them in our memories. We can communicate with spoken languages and build relationships with others. From the very beginning, we understood our biological distinctiveness allowing us to join with the opposite sex and procreate. Even today, most of humanity believes instinctively in some higher power that has created them and rules the cosmos. These basic truths lead us to the threshold of all truth. When Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said, “The truth will set you free,” it was built on this basic truth of knowing who we are in the universe. Although it is imperative to know the basic truth, Christ came to give us the full truth handed down through the ages in the Holy Scriptures. Without understanding the whole truth from Christ, then we are still in bondage and a slave to the powers of darkness. Let us strive to understand the whole truth that will truly set us free.
The modern world not only denies the basic truth, but it also has no understanding of the whole truth that will set them free from the powers of darkness and the spirit of Antichrist. This truth comes into focus when we understand mankind’s condition apart from his Creator. We were created to have a continuous, unbroken, relationship with our Creator. Therefore, to be in a broken relationship, separate from our Creator, puts us into the waiting hands of the devil and the powers of darkness. This broken relationship with our Creator is the horrific story of mankind’s existence since their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Jesus Christ, came to make all things new, to bring humanity back into a right relationship with their Creator, essentially to give them back life from death (Ephesians 2:1-10). Yes, the entire world is dead in their sins driving them deeper and deeper into all manner of wickedness and depravity. On their own, they cannot do anything about it. The whole world is in captivity to the powers of darkness desperately looking for a way to escape their secret pains, their increasing drama, and with no real hope for the future. This separation from their Creator has also had a profound effect on their physical well-being as they face death, dying daily. How tragic that they don’t understand that we were not created to be set apart from our Creator.
There is good news! Jesus Christ came to set the captives free by giving us the truth. It is only the truth that will set us free. Most of us have lived long enough to have heard all the lies in the world. We have heard the lies that mankind can deliver us from all of our emotional and psychological problems through their expert counseling and drug therapy. We have heard the lies how our political leadership can deliver us from a failing economy and bring forth a joyous equality for all. We have heard the lies how humanity can experience freedom by selecting a different sex or no sex at all, contrary to their original biological sex. We have heard the lies that wealth will bring forth true happiness. We have heard the lies that we can solve all of our problems by doing research either in the bookstore or on the internet. I wrote previously about GPT-4 on the precipice of (AGI) Artificial General Intelligence that will promise to give you all the answers for all of life. This too is a lie of the devil that will prove to be the image of the beast in the Book of Revelation. Yes, we have heard all the lies but none of them will deliver us from bondage and the ruthlessness of our old sin nature who refuses to die. Only the truth will truly set us free.
Christ came to show us the way. Yes, this is a leap of faith that will change your life forever. This faith, as we shall see, will require that you do something that you have never done before or even thought possible. Let us follow Jesus Christ to real freedom and eternal life. This truth is so hidden from most in the modern church that they have completely explained away the only way expounded by Christ and His followers who wrote the New Testament. We must die to self by following Christ in His death and resurrection on the Cross. When we truly die to self, then we no longer trust in ourselves or the powers of darkness who are running this present world. This is a huge leap of faith that most are unwilling to take. The modern Christian, in name only, fails at two points. First, he does not really trust in God to make him into a new creation. The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). He does not believe in the transformation in Christ. If he did, then he would trust God completely by never looking back or allowing his past to control his future. Yes, in this world we are always going to have trouble where others will do some pretty insane things causing us to suffer greatly. However, if we are truly in Christ, then we trust Him alone to deliver us from the past through our forgiveness of others, which will erase it from our minds completely. We will press on to our upward calling in Christ Jesus.
In the second point, the modern-day believer does not trust God to give them everything they need for life and godliness. The Bible says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (II Peter 1:3). So they continue their research on the internet, trusting in it as the gospel truth. They continue with their drug therapy and counseling trusting that it will deliver them from the pain of their sordid lives. They continue to praise and support their political leaders trusting them to bring peace and happiness in a world gone mad. Simply, put they don’t trust in God to give them everything they need for all of life and godliness. If they did, then they would continue the transformation process becoming all that God wants them to become. They would continue to put off the old life and put on their new life in Christ (Ephesians 4:17-32). They would learn how to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ by allowing Him alone through the indwelling Spirit to direct their path. The Bible says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2). Every step of the way, we must allow Christ to direct our path in our deeds and our conversation with others.
Although this transformation is a process, it will happen as quickly as you allow it. Our motivation for being completely transformed is the great joy and peace that awaits those who have been transformed in Christ. Not only do we receive our own unique Spiritual gifts, but we receive the greatest gift of all, the gift of love. This gift of love, more than any, will not only build up and strengthen the Church, but it will have a profound effect on the fallen world. Our gift of love allows God’s love to flow powerfully through us to others ministering directly to their sad and downtrodden hearts. Even if we must take the marks of Christ (through persecution or service to others) to prove our love, it will tremendously strengthen our faith and our resolve to stand firm. As we continue the transformation process, it will be as if heaven opens up giving us a glimpse at eternity and the tremendous glory that awaits those who put their trust in God alone. As we continue our transformation, we begin to see those many little miracles from God always working things out for the best. How marvelous it is to observe His perfect timing that brings forth a time of great rejoicing. Jesus Christ’s substitutionary atonement on the Cross satisfied the penalty for our sins (Romans 6:23), and His miraculous resurrection in three days restored our relationship with God through faith paving the way for our transformation in Christ. Only those who have received the truth and have been transformed in Christ will be set free. They will be called the faithful remnant. Let them arise now and enlighten the fallen world before it is too late. Only the truth will set them free.
