The Immortal Message of Easter

On Easter morn, we are drawn back to the message of the Cross that all-encompassing will of God. We are catapulted beyond the simple historical message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to the infinite heights of God’s will for our life in Christ Jesus. If we only see the historical event steeped in tradition then we have missed the message. In the Apostle Paul’s farewell message to the Ephesian elders he declared, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). And the starting place in this wonderful journey in understanding the whole will of God is by following the admonition of Christ to pick up our cross and follow Him. The Bible says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). To pick up the cross means death. It simply cannot mean anything else. It is a conscious decision to follow Christ in His death by dying to self. As we enter the dark night of our soul we discover that everything of the old sin nature must die. Every vestige of pride must be nailed to the cross. Every glimmer of self-will must die with Christ. Through faith in Christ our death to self becomes a reality. Step by step we are able to put off the old life. Continue reading The Immortal Message of Easter

Love All the Children

A Love note from God, to all pregnant women (and parents who have accepted the greatest gift imaginable). As you’re sitting there contemplating the life that’s within you please realize that God, creator of all that exist, has plans for your child as he’s being formed within the womb. What an amazing thought. That this child of yours could be used of God in some mighty task in saving others or establishing His Kingdom here on earth. This child of yours could end up being the President of the United States of America; or some great scientist who discovers the cure for some horrible disease like Alzheimer’s; or some great evangelist that would turn the peoples heart back to God and His magnificent love. Can you only imagine what would have happened if Mary would’ve chosen abortion to escape people not understanding the miraculous birth of a virgin? Because of her faithfulness, the Son of God was born in human flesh to bring salvation to humanity. Even if your child does not climb to such heights, he will still have a tremendous effect upon others living in the world. Just think about the number of lives that you have personally touched. Perhaps some for the good and some for the bad, but either way it may have helped them to grow stronger and more resolute to face the many trials and tribulations in the world. Finding Answers to Life’s Problems

Today we continue our series of articles that proclaim that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. As the Church prepares to celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, unfortunately many in the world don’t feel much like celebrating. A dark shadow has been cast over the world from an increase in rampant lawlessness to the destabilization of other nations. The stress level of the world’s population is off the scale due to fear of catastrophic natural disasters, impending pandemics, the possibility of world war, or an increase in bloody persecution of Christians. The world is faced with a multitude of problems. In our struggle to walk as children of light in a dark world we have all lost many battles to the old nature and the enemy. Many Christians who are burdened with life’s problems find little accurate and authoritative counsel from others. For many they find little comfort or direction from the Bible which has resulted in a life of bondage to emotional and psychological problems forcing them to the world’s counselors to find a cure. Often times in desperation they have readily accepted the remedy of psychotropic (mind altering) drugs leading to life of addiction, other dependence, and spiritual depression. By God’s grace I want to spare you of that. Continue reading Finding Answers to Life’s Problems

Why Is Life so Difficult?

This article begins a new series that proclaims that God has given us everything we need for all of life and godliness. My heart is grieved over how many people are hurting. I know that God’s heart must also be breaking when he hears the cries of His children. Although at first glance, one can easily blame many things for their struggles and anguish, such as a weak economy, lack of work, or circumstances beyond their control. However, once we take a closer look we soon discover that many of the problems they face are caused by other things not easily recognized or admitted. Before we unearth these causes, it’s necessary to realize that as God’s children His chief concern is the end result. That is, His chief desire beyond anything you experience in this life is to make you into a new creation where the barnacles of the old sin nature fall off and that one day you would stand before Him in heaven as a righteous person in Christ.
