The Truth is Falling on Deaf Ears

The Truth is Falling on Deaf Ears

Clearly, the Spirit is speaking, even in the last days, but very few take the time to hear His voice. This can be primarily explained in one statement, “we are staying too busy and allowing interruptions during our quiet time.” Satan and the world are working overtime to keep you so busy, and if perchance you try to listen to the Spirit, you are interrupted. The Spirit is speaking the truth in the last days but it’s falling on deaf ears. The Bible says, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Revelation 3:22). We, as true believers in-Christ are the Church, contrary to what label is placed upon the building often referred to incorrectly as the church. God has something to specifically say to you and perhaps to the rest of His beloved children, who typically meet in your same geographical area, either in your State or Country. We don’t serve a mute God. God spoke the creation into existence and is busy now speaking to you, His new creations in Christ. So, as God’s true Church, how can we have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying. Let’s learn together how to listen.

Before we talk about the many interruptions in your life, that keep you from hearing the Spirit speaking the truth, let’s look at just how busy Satan and the world are keeping you. Essentially, Satan and his demonic host are keeping you deaf. That has been his goal from the beginning. However, in these last days, he has many more tools to keep us busy from morning until night. They say that technology was invented to give humanity a helping hand, to save us time. Although technology may have saved us time, it has also taken back much more time, with the other hand, making us busier and more stressed than at any other time in the history of humanity. We have become slaves to our own technology, which I am sure has been the devil’s plan from the beginning. You might already be asking, “How so?” If we could limit our technology to our eight-hour workday, making the worker more productive, then nothing would be lost, but no, its followed us home. We can now spend hours every day on the cellphone, the computer checking our email or playing games, on social media posting and commenting, driving our smart car, or sitting in front of the big screen being entertained, along with many other things to consume our precious time. We are way too busy to take the needed time necessary to hear the voice of God through the Spirit.

Even if we stopped or cut way back on the time we spend with our devices, there still would be the interruptions. Satan has been doing that since the beginning too. He can either use others to interrupt you, or he’s very good at interrupting you by pulling up thoughts out of your memory allowing you to be consumed for hours or even tormented with the memory. This can be easily done through allowing you to see images or hear sounds, once processed by the brain, to bring back memories to dwell upon. People are saying that they are having a difficult time staying focused. There is no wonder with Satan leading us around by the nose with his interruptions or keeping us busy with technology, that’s supposed to give us more time. Ask yourself a question how much time are you spending chasing the latest so-called prophecies, the latest YouTube video, the latest news article, the latest post on social media, the latest gossip from family or friends, the latest movie, or the latest song to be played on the radio. We are too busy and interrupted by our own thoughts and vain imaginations. We must follow God’s Word by taking back control of our minds and how we spend our time. The Bible says, “Redeem the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16). If we do redeem the time. then we will be one step closer to hearing what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Once we have cleared our schedule not allowing any interruptions including our own thoughts then we are ready to listen. Let me start by insisting that God wants to speak. That’s what He does. So, we need ears to hear. The first step is to be patient, which I am afraid to say, is lacking among most of God’s children. We simply cannot tell God, “I have an hour free today, so I will believe that you can speak to me then.” Then I will tell you don’t waste your time it doesn’t work that way. No, I will clear my schedule and seek to spend time with my God, no matter how long it takes. One hour, two hours, three hours or all day. Remember, God knows the sincerity of your heart. I have done that for many years and can tell you most often it takes one to three hours or longer for God to speak showing me how to pray or giving me an idea for my next blog article or News Brief. On the other hand, He has at times spoken immediately, to my great astonishment and joy. Praise God! The bottom line is most have deaf ears and cannot hear what the Spirit says to the churches, because they are too busy and they keep allowing interruptions to keep them from staying focused on the task at hand, listening to what the Spirit says to the churches.

Once the Spirit speaks the next step is to completely let go. Don’t insert your words of wisdom. Don’t attempt to get ahead of the Spirit by thinking surely this sounds better because I have always been taught this or that. Dear friends, when the Spirit speaks, we need to listen. In time, you will learn to have self-control allowing God to speak through the Spirit. I am always amazed how easily He brings different passages of Scripture immediately to our mind, like a flash of lightning. You will notice that there is no precognition. It is God’s Word and He speaks it to us, when He wants, not when we think we are ready. I cannot overemphasize how important it is to die to self and allow God to speak whenever and however He wants. We need to remember; the timing is always His and not ours. I cannot tell you the number of times that I have been awakened in the middle of the night, or very early in the morning, or staying up past my scheduled bedtime when He is ready to speak. The point is when the Spirit speaks, we need to be ready to listen, your entire schedule must be put on hold as we take all the time He wants, to hear everything He wants to say. If more of His children would start listening and stop talking there would be a lot less confusion in the world and particularly among God’s beloved children.

Finally, when God speaks through the Spirit, it is always the truth without any mixture of error. Let’s be very clear about that. I have never known Him to contradict the Holy Scriptures or to give us additional truth that’s not there in the first place. We can study the Bible our entire life and still not fathom all the truth that it contains. It is not a dead word, but the living Word of God for every season and for the time in which we are currently living. His truth in the Bible has all the answers for man’s problems. Every emotional and psychological problem can be answered by the Word of God. Every political dilemma can be answered by the Word of God. As we approach the end, we cannot allow our desires to run in one direction just because we agree with so much of what’s being said, to blind us to the path that we are on and the greater problem that could lie ahead if we wink at the sins or turn a blind eye. The church, God’s precious children, are living in a very precarious time where if we are not careful then we could be caught up in the great falling away. The truth of God’s Word has not changed just because we are living in a modern age with fancy technology. If the Bible says, that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness, which it does, then that truth is just as relevant in the 21st Century as it was in the first. “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Revelation 3:22).
