I have great empathy for the many professed believers falling away because they never really loved the truth that they might be saved (See II Thessalonians 2:10). They sincerely believe that they have their ticket to heaven but have not fully followed the way of the Lord, because they have embraced the many lies from the internet. Satan has used the internet to spread his lies far and wide through the trusted search engines, respected news sites, and all the social media platforms, including YouTube. This has caused those who profess to know Jesus as their Savior a great deal of difficulty, casting them in one direction and then another weakening their faith. Furthermore, it is greatly filling up all their time keeping the Spirit from doing His job by leading them into all truth and helping them to grow up in Christ (See John 16:13). This has been Satan’s design from the beginning. From the First Century until now Satan has raised up multiple gods, different philosophies, and belief systems, including false prophets to lead God’s children astray. Satan knows their thirst for more information and knowledge, never being satisfied with God’s simple truth for all of life. He has even engineered the acceptance and creditability of science to question God’s absolute truth concerning all of creation and that includes humanity. God will not be mocked by those who claim to love the truth yet accept everything the world says. The Bible says, “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (II Thessalonians 2:11-12). Clearly, these people do not love the truth.
If they sincerely loved the truth, then they would soon recognize that God’s truth gave them everything they need for life and godliness (See II Peter 1:3). If they truly loved the whole truth given to them by God, then they would have no need to seek answers from the world by asking unknown people on social media. They would have no need to surf the internet or the YouTube channel seeking answers that God has already given to His children. So, when God sends a strong delusion, He is simply letting them go to believe the lies and experience their damning consequences. Yes, in the last days those who profess Christ but no longer follow His way but seek to integrate the world’s knowledge with God’s holy truth will be joining all of humanity in their march toward eternal damnation. This is the great falling away. Although it deeply saddens me to see this integration of the world’s knowledge with God’s absolute truth, it doesn’t even compare with how delusional people have become by openly denying that they have done anything wrong. They feel it’s perfectly alright to integrate the world’s psychology with God’s absolute truth concerning His creations – all of mankind. They deny the new life in Christ where we are made into a brand-new creation and completely free from our past. The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). The great crowd of those falling away is growing larger every day. Though none go with me, I still will follow His truth.
If we sincerely loved the truth, then we would understand the power of forgiveness. We love the truth that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross and the shedding of His blood has efficacy to forgive the entire world of their sins. There is power in the blood of the Lamb to cleanse us from all sin (See I John 1:7). The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). For those who are falling away, they no longer believe this truth because they have integrated the world’s psychology with God’s truth. They openly deny the sufficiency of Scripture (See II Peter 1:3). Therefore, in their group counseling sessions, they continue to repeat their sins over and over again not realizing that it holds them captive to their old life. On the other hand, the truth, for which we love, believes that confession and true repentance erases the sin as though it never existed. Unlike the world that remembers every sin, God cast our sins as far as the East is from the West, an infinite distance (See Psalms 103:12). Even Satan loves to bring up our old trespass in an attempt to hold us in captivity. We love the truth, believing if we resist Satan, he will flee from us (see James 4:7). We love the truth, through faith in Christ believing in His death and resurrection we have been delivered from the power of sin to live our new life in Christ. The great crowd of those falling away is growing larger every day. Though none go with me, I still will follow His truth.
We sincerely love the truth, believing that we have been given power over anxiety, stress, and all the other so-called psychological diseases to experience a perfect peace that defies understanding. It’s not just the world that’s beating a path to the counselor’s office, for they have also been joined by those who are falling away. Those falling away are doing so whole-hardly, and even carrying its propaganda back to the church. Not only have they denied the sufficiency of Scripture, but they have also denied their new life in Christ (See II Corinthians 5:17). The world teaches you to accept your old life with all its struggles, whereas God’s truth teaches us how to walk in our new life free from all the old pains. We have become witnesses that through faith we can put off the old life and simultaneously put on the new life in Christ. We are witnesses to the power of prayer both in healing and the acceptance of God’s loving providential will for our lives. The Bible says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). We have witnessed God’s loving providence and perfect timing on so many different occasions. We are witnesses that by walking in the light and adhering to God’s biblical admonitions that we can experience a perfect peace that defies understanding even in the midst of the storm (See Philippians 4:4-9). The great crowd of those falling away is growing larger every day. Though none go with me, I still will follow His truth.
We love the truth that keeps us on the straight and narrow path. We are witnesses that walking in Christ is a full-time job, every moment of every day. We are appalled at how Satan has every person chasing the proverbial rabbit, going in one direction and then another. They are like a rudderless boat being tossed in one direction and then another. With every news story, social media post, or YouTube video we see the crowds chasing after another conspiracy theory or some new learning that inspires the imagination. Although those falling away are leading the crowd, we are witnesses to God’s faithful remnant staying on course. We have been given the heart to love and care for one another, whereas those chasing the proverbial rabbit are still walking in darkness. They are much too busy for spiritual growth in Christ. They are much too busy to have a meaningful relationship or fellowship with our risen Lord (Read I John 1:1-10). We love the truth that as a new creation walking in the light, we have a beautiful and blessed fellowship with our Creator (See my previous article, “Getting Caught up in the Spirit.” We love the truth that while we walk in the light, we expose the darkness (See Ephesians 5:13). The closer we walk to the Lord, the quicker we recognize the false teachings from the world and the quicker we expose the powers of darkness posing as children of light. We find it very difficult to read what they are posting on social media or broadcasting on the news media. The great crowd of those falling away is growing larger every day. Though none go with me, I still will follow His truth.
We love the fact that we don’t need to face the world alone, for God has given us His Spirit to dwell in the life of every true believer. We witness the fact that He directs us, every moment of every day, keeping us from experiencing anything we cannot handle (See I Corinthians 10:13). The more we grow up in Christ the more we recognize His presence and the more we enjoy His abiding fellowship. We are also witnesses that the indwelling Spirit did not come empty-handed. No, He came bearing gifts of the Holy Spirit. We quickly realized that they were not for our good pleasure but only for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom here on earth. We have experienced the gift of healing others on more than one occasion. We have shockingly witnessed God’s power of rebuking an evil presence and delivering a poor soul. We have amazingly witnessed food being materialized right on a table where almost no food existed for dinner (a visible answer to prayer). Perhaps the most exciting to me, however, was witnessing those divine appointments giving me an opportunity to share the gospel with a complete stranger and realize that this was no accidental encounter. The great crowd of those falling away is growing larger every day. Though none go with me, I still will follow Jesus Christ who is the truth. I still will follow the truth even if I must walk alone (but not really alone).
